3 Oboenrohre mit langer Bahn ( amerikanische Rohre) mit Unterstücken
Long-scrape oboe reeds (American scrape) with staple lower sections – easier blowing, longer stamina
American-scrape reeds have a considerably longer scrape than European reeds. That changes the playing experience from the ground up: the tone responds with noticeably less lip pressure. If you practise for long stretches, sit through long rehearsals, or are still building your embouchure, you will feel the difference within the first half hour.
Every reed is made by hand in the traditional way and individually adjusted for reliable response, accurate intonation and a warm, balanced sound. This version comes with matching staple lower sections in several lengths.
Particularly recommended for
- very young oboists whose embouchure is still developing
- students with fixed braces – the lower lip pressure brings real relief
- long practice sessions and long rehearsals, where the embouchure would otherwise tire early
- changing tuning standards – for instance when you play in more than one orchestra or ensemble
Features
- American scrape with a long blade
- low lip pressure – comfortable over long stretches
- easy, dependable response
- warm, full sound with clear projection
- hand-selected, seasoned cane (Arundo donax) from southern France
- precision staples by Chiarugi
- Included: 3 handmade oboe reeds plus staple lower sections in several lengths
The Chiarugi staple: two parts, more flexibility
We work with Chiarugi's two-part staples. The reed is tied onto the upper section, while the lower section can be swapped out. Different lengths of the lower section let you play the same reed at a higher or lower pitch – useful when you move between orchestras, ensembles or tuning standards.
The lower sections you need for this are already part of the set. You can try out straight away which length suits your instrument and your tuning, with nothing to order separately.
Materials
Cane – Arundo donax – hand-selected and seasoned, from southern France. For centuries the proven material in fine reed making.
